The sun - finally
Today I had to fit my run+shower+lunch in between something ending at 12h00 and something beginning at 13h30 - to which I couldn’t be late. That means that my 10k went really, really fast under my feet. Actually I’m not sure it was 10k, and I’m not sure it was fast, because my garmin died after only the first 10min. :-)
Sensations were nice while running on the lake-side with...

Family's fun
If you want to build up some kilometers for your training, Sunday is the day to do so. Yesterday it was all nice and blue sky as we headed up to Cogne for a long nordic ski tour. We did around 26km, the whole Cogne tour, then the Valnontey, then Lillaz, on the path of the MarciaGranParadiso that will be held on February the 6th. My brother and I forward, with my mother following - but she did the...

Skiing at night!!
Thursday evening, it’s time to ski! Off from work around 17h00, heading to Mollendruz Col (1200m~). The night was dark and we forgot our frontal lights… Enough said, we did a lap of 6.10km in 33min, with the highest speeds in the flat portions and the lowest speeds in the descents :-)
Good experience though, and a good training too, as legs and ankles are stimulated much more when you...
“People sometimes sneer at those who run every day, claiming they’ll go to any length to live longer. But I don’t think that’s the reason most people run. Most runners run not because they want to live longer, but because they want to live life to the fullest. If you’re going to while away the years, it’s far better to live them with clear goals and fully alive than in a fog and I believe...

As I decided to start with the speed sessions on February only, today I ran with Josias in EPFL and in the surrounding woods. It snows quite a lot today, so it was not easy to keep the speed up, but Josias did everything was possible to make me sweat. In the end the 10k were fairly tiring, and I had the impression that running without objectives is even more exhausting than a difficult fixed...

Run across the epfl campus and then on the lake side, by night. Temperature is getting lower and lower, snow is transforming in ice, so it’s not easy to run. Anyways sensations were really good: feeling the cold, smelling the cold, I counted 5 people during the whole run.
8.8km @ 4min40

On Sunday, in Bussigny
~10km, medium speed. The Bussigny’s wood was beautiful, but how hard is that to run on centimeters of fresh snow?
Back on running shoes in two days for a speed session.

Running on the snow again
9km at noon. These guys who love to run alone because of the sound they do when they breathe. These guys who “today I don’t want to run” and as soon as they got their shoes on and they’re out they’re in awe from sweating. These guys who “today I’ll do a slow slow run” and then they see faster runners ahead and they HAVE to get them. These guys who the best part of the training is the suffering...

First run of 2010: 05 Jan
8km, lenti.
