Triathlon Training in Switzerland |
[2010 starts with good resolutions as always. Let's follow my training towards the triathlon season.] Update: it's now 2012 and I race in Geneva! yay! |
HR results of the running of yesterday evening. Everything was looking fine until we actually started running :-)
Tonight a total of 10km with technique exercises in the beginning followed by ~8km @ 4’30. Nice start!!
Swimming: 400m crawl warmup + 4x4x25m medley + 200m legs + 500m pull buoy + 500m paddles + 20min t-shirt swim pulling out of the water every 50m.
No need to say I still feel the training two days later. The good part is that I feel I’ll improve my times :)
I bei tempi… nostalgia.
This was a “scientific” test. I wanted to see if the urban legend of music helping speed had some real basis. The test consisted in two series of 10 intervals of 250-260m with 260m recover; first ten, with music off; second ten, with music on.
Initial conditions were to try to run the intervals as equals as possible to the others. The watch light stayed off. In between the two sets I recovered a bit more, in order to have (almost) the same initial conditions.
There are a lot of evident possible bugs I see in this “experiment”; among the others the main one is that the intervals with music on are after the others, when I was already half-tired.
Lausanne -> Grand Saint Bernard à vélo
Completely wasted by 6x800m (2m45ish) + 2x200m (35s).
As a wise person said, speed kills endurance, endurance kills speed… And both kill me.
Just got back from a lovely 11k with Josias. With these, I added up a total of 45k in the last 3 days, in just less than 3h45’.
It’s a bit less kms than what Dean (Karnazes) runs -each- day, but everything is relative :-)
Note to self: try to find the correlation between the following datasets 2010: 78kg - 10.5k race in 40’04” 2011: ~82kg - same race in 44’30”

Not that any amount of reading will change my game plan of slow and steady swimming to ensure...
Saturday was the first run outside that I had planned this year, and I had to practically beg Lauren to come with me....
That’s right we love this quote. How are you pushing your limits in your marathon training?
